Varsity College offers the Pathway to a UNISA degree, which assist students with academic readiness for studying towards a UNISA degree. So, if you missed the UNISA registration deadline, hurry and see a Student Advisor on one of our campuses for a very sensible solution!
O’WEEK FOR FIRST YEAR STUDENTS
All first year students are invited (and strongly encouraged) to participate in O’Week (Orientation Week). O’Week for Degree and IMM students commences on 24 January and for Diploma and Certificate students on 14 February 2011. This is the perfect opportunity for first year students to meet and mingle in a fun and interactive way with other new students, making the first academic day on campus that much less daunting.

CLASSES COMMENCE
Classes commence anytime between Tuesday 25 January and Monday 28 February, depending on the programme. If you are still unsure of when classes commence for your particular programme, please be sure to contact your campus to confirm.

2011 Registration
Registration for 2011 is well under-way. If you’re wanting to study at Varsity College this year, please call your nearest campus and schedule an appointment with a student Advisor who will happily advise you on the various programme options available to you, as well as guide you through the registration process.
Registration will remain open until classes commence or until capacity has been reached so the earlier you register, the better.
The following information must be submitted with the Registration Form and Contract of Enrolment:
SOUTH AFRICAN STUDENTS
- Certified copy of the student’s ID (for 1st registrations only)
- Certified copy of the account payer’s ID
- Certified copy of the Senior Certificate / National Senior Certificate or statement of results (for 1st time registrations only)
- Passport size photograph
- Where applicable, proof of registration with external examining body
FOREIGN STUDENTS
- Certified copy of the student’s ID (for 1st registrations only)
- Certified copy of the account payer’s ID
- Certified copy of valid Study Permit made out to the IIE
- Certified copy of the Senior Certificate equivalent qualification, original SAQA evaluation of qualification, original translation of documents in foreign language
- Where applicable, proof of registration with external examining body

Varsity College Opening Address
Varsity College requests the company of all 2011 students and their parents to our annual Opening Address ceremony.
NOTE: It is compulsory that all 1st year students attend Opening Address.

VOLUNTARY COUNSELLING AND TESTING
During March New Start Voluntary Counselling and Testing teams visited all the Varsity College campuses, offering students access to the highest quality HIV counselling, testing and referral services.
This initiative, which was rolled out by Varsity College nationally last year, is well received and supported by students.
The Society for Family Health (SFH) developed the New Start HIV Counseling and Testing programme in partnership with the Government of South Africa (GOSA). New Start is funded by the Global Fund via the South African National Department of Health and the US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) through the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

REACH FOR A DREAM FOUNDATION BENEFITS FROM STUDENTS’ GREAT SENSE OF VOLUNTEERISM
Every Varsity College student is encouraged to become actively involved in the life of the Varsity College community. Under the banner of VC Cares, students are given the opportunity to give back to the community through social responsibility and community outreach programmes. The ANNUAL national Varsity College community outreach event was held for terminally ill boys or girls in the care of The Reach for a Dream Foundation (RFAD). The campuses either hosted a ‘Queen for a Day’ for the girls or a ‘Captain Courage’ for the boys. The events were a huge success!!
