Varsity College is proud to announce the launch of the Independent Institute of Education (IIE) BCom Degree across all of its eight campuses for 2012. This 3 year qualification has been accredited by the Council for Higher Education in South Africa at level 7 on the Higher Education Qualifications Framework.
Of interest to prospective students is that, through an exciting collaboration with the Open University of the United Kingdom, graduates may articulate to a UK Honours degree, with the equivalent of an additional full-time year of online study. This association represents a progressive step in South African higher education, given the demand for international qualifications, and paving the way for graduates’ qualifications to be converted into global career opportunities.
The BCom degree complements the recently launched Varsity College IIE BA in Corporate Communication, which also allows Open University articulation.
BCom students may specialise in the fields of Business and Strategic Management or Business and Financial Management. The association with the Open University gives students graduating with this BCom the opportunity to carry up to 240 points of credit transfer towards a UK Honours degree, with the equivalent of one additional full-time year of online study.
The Open University is the largest university in the United Kingdom and has more than 60 000 students studying qualifications directly from the university delivered through local partners or, through Open University validated programmes. The IIE Varsity College undergraduate programme will be designed with the Open University’s teaching approach in mind and incorporate some of its material. This makes for an academically exciting and robust programme. The IIE is the most accredited private higher education institution in South Africa.
Applications and registration remain open until February 2012, or until class capacity is reached. For more information contact a student advisor at your nearest campus.
